Weekly Inspo

Weekly bit of inspiration.  Definitely feeling some new fall things like midi skirts paired with comfy sweaters.  I move back to Montreal soon so interior design is on my mind!  Excited to go back and be in my own home.

Seventies Vibes

Top - Topshop / Leggings - Lululemon / Shoes - Aldo / Purse - Kate Spade ( similar ) When I was in NYC a few weeks ago I stumbled upon this adorable top/dress in the petites section of Topshop.  Being only 5'2" I'm absolutely a petite person and I love how the Topshop in Soho has an entire section dedicated to the smaller people like me.  This piece is quite short but I think it can work for many different occasions just depending on what you put underneath it.  In this case, I had this on for a day working at the gallery but I could easily wear it to a party with only tights underneath. Just another black and white piece that I'm going to be pairing with a red lip for many other occasions this coming fall.

Fashionable Feminism?

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin I have to say, I have mixed feelings about the release of Acne's Fall 2015 menswear collection.  If you know me in person, you probably know that I have very strong feelings about my own feminism and beliefs in women's rights and gender equality.  There's something to be said about a major label such as Acne coming out with clothing along this line, but what is the statement they're actually making? I'm all about proclaiming your own feminism, but I'm not a fan of doing it to go along with the 'fad' of feminism.  Even if Acne designers have the intention of labeling themselves as openly feminist, I'm afraid of the bearded, PBR-drinking hipsters taking this as the OK to put on clothing that says they support feminism while at the same time not supporting it in their daily lives.  Does this mean it WILL happen?  Not necessarily, but it's just something to think about. These pieces run from $220 USD to over ...

New York, I Love You

Image
This summer has been insane.  I've been working constantly between my three jobs and have had almost no time for fun!  Thankfully, my main job had a two week summer break where I had a chance to take a deep breath and spend some time by myself, with friends and seeing family.  One of the things I was able to do is visit New York City two times and see my great friend Haleigh.  We spent the entire day downtown and got a chance to see the new Whitney Museum down in Meatpacking.  Although I was a tad disappointed with the collection itself, the building was super impressive as was the view of downtown.   I did really enjoy the Calder circus they had on display and the minimalist exhibits, so if you go I definitely suggest keeping an eye out for those. I made the decision to wear a breezy dress from Free People which worked perfectly because of how incredibly hot it was in the city that day.  Paired with my favorite Birke...

Holy Cheekbones! Thoughts on Chanel's Couture Fall 2015

Image
Is it wrong that the most striking thing to me about the recent Chanel show is the styling of the models' hair and makeup?  When I think of Chanel, I like most people have trouble straying from the classic ideas of black suits with white trim, perfectly executed and tailored as one would expect of a design house that holds such a reputable position in the world of fashion.  After years of following fashion from a distance (mostly from my parent's home in Providence, Rhode Island) I obviously know there's so much more to Chanel than this classic image.  Personally, I was really intrigued by the way the variations on this suit that came out of the new couture show. As soon as I opened up the link from style.com my mother drifted over and looked at the images of the newly released ensembles.  We sorted through each one commenting on the looks deciding whether we liked them or not, just like we always do.  There were a lot of angular lines and acute triangle...

Missing Montreal

Image
These were the last photos I was able to snap when I was still in Montreal.  I love how the city always seems to be so alive even if it's buried under feet of snow.  In the summertime there's people everywhere and there's lots of festivals.  This was taken on a day where we decided to go out and walk up and down Mont-Royal Ave. and check out all the things going on in the street such as poetry readings and street foot!  Definitely miss it. Kenzo's New Short Film

Image
When I went to Paris a few months ago I began my love affair with Kenzo.  When we were strolling through the Galleries de Lafyette I was drawn in by the new collection's brilliant colors and iconic designs.  Needless to say, they're a few notches above my pay grade but I digress. I learned a few days ago that they plan on releasing a short film with director Gregg Araki and I'm beyond excited.  The film, entitled "Here Now" is set to be released next week on July 4th and stars many young hollywood personalities such as my personal favorite Avan Jogia.  I mean, how could this get better? Before I go geeking further, just watch the trailer.  July 4th, please come soon.
