OOTD: Summer in the City

Image
New York City can get rather...gross during the Summer.  This entire weekend has been a mix of humidity and drizzles which resulted in a very sticky and curly-haired me.  Thankfully, I dressed appropriately.  This romper is a definite treasure I got from Isaac's sister's closet clean out.  A little TLC, a new button and a safety pin later it was ready to roll.  Matched with some Stan Smiths and the outfit was about as good as you can get when you're romping around downtown in the heat and humidity. Romper - Wilfred (old) / Purse - Kenzo / Shoes - Addidas Stan Smith I'm really digging rompers right now too.  They're so easy to just throw on and head out.  It's also a great non-committal way to try out the all-denim look.  Check out some of my favorite denim rompers below! Slip Into Something More Comfortable: My Favorite Mules to Shop Now

Image
I've been dragging my heels with the recent mules trend.  Ha! Get it? Dragging...heels...shoes...okay I'll stop.  In all actuality I haven't been a huge fan of mules.  It's taken me a while to warm up to it and honestly I'm finally considering getting a pair mostly because of the annoying blisters I keep getting on the back of my feet.  Is that a horrible excuse? Probably.  But! I can avoid these blisters in style. Check out some of my favorite picks that I just might be be scooping up in SoHo after work this week. AW 2016 Zara Ballet

Image
My ballet career lasted about eight months.  At four years old, I was extremely uncoordinated and hated being told what to do.  I kept the outfit though! Tutus go with everything, especially when you're four. I've been completely obsessed with the Miu Miu ballet flats for months now.  It's like my new tutu.  Unfortunately, their $620 price tag is...well, that's more than my rent.  (I'll leave it there) This morning as I was scrolling through my bloglovin feed I read that Zara is releasing a ballet collection - so, of course I'm super excited. Cloisters

Oh hey there blog! Been a while huh? It's been an interesting two months since I last saw you.  Started a new job, spent a lot of time making new friends and going on new adventures - with a broken camera nonetheless! Finally have a working lens so I'm ready to jump back into blogging and talking about life here in NYC.  It always gives me a heavy heart when I've been away for so long.  Even if there are no readers, I still have a commitment to this blog and a commitment to myself to keep it up. Living in NYC is really a wonderful experience.  I love this city with all my heart - there's so many different facets of this world and so many new places to discover.  Today I traveled up to visit the Cloisters with my cousin and a few friends.  The weather was gorgeous - not too hot but plenty of sun - and we were able to enjoy the view and the fresh air out of downtown.  It was my first time visiting the Cloisters and it was an absolute treat.  Ev...

Rhode Island Sunset

Image
Spending a few days back in Rhode Island with my mother before hopping off to the next adventure.  It's really such a wonderful place to take a breath and step back from city life.  After living in Montreal for the better part of three years I have gotten to the point where I can appreciate being here without it feeling isolated, something I felt especially in high school.  Does anyone else feel strange going back to their childhood home after moving out? I'm sure it's nothing unusual.  For a little dinner on the water I threw on this dress I bought last year and some old season 3.1 Philip Lim shoes that I still totally adore. Thrown with a sweater I bought a few months back at Banana Republic, it was the perfect combination for a quiet weekday dinner. Passover Outfit

Image
I normally don't like wearing an outfit made out of pieces I had bought that day.  Sure, I'm all for running home to throw on a new shirt to wear for a night out with friends, but a whole outfit? When I buy new things I make an effort to think to myself three different outfit combinations where I could use the new piece along with things I already own.  This was not one of those outfits.  I had spent the day running around with Solène trying on different work-wear pieces and when it came time to get dressed for the Saturday Passover dinner, we both agreed that these pants and this top were just too cute and I had to wear them. Isaac and I snapped these shots just before calling the uber to make our way to the suburbs for dinner.  This was my first experience of Passover, discounting our attendance at the previous night's festivities.  Having at least gone to the previous dinner, I had an idea what the dress code would be.  The dinner was fantastic a...

Greyscale OOTD

Hello friends! What a fantastic time of year it is right now.  Isn't it just a fantastic time of year? The end of finals season! (For all us college kids out there) I'm in a very strange limbo at the moment between the end of my exams and the beginning of my summer job.  If you got a chance to read my latest post  you'll know that I'm moving to NYC for the summer to start a job for June 1st.  Beforehand though, I kind of am doing a bunch of traveling and bopping around.  I'll be staying in Montreal until the 12th, then heading back to Rhode Island to see family.  Then (this is the good part) I'll be going to Germany and France with some family members! That will be great fun and there will obviously be many photos taken.  After that I'm back to the states ready to move to the city! For now, I'm just taking it slow and getting my things together in preparation for moving.  I'm hoping to get a few outfits shot this week...
