Inspired By..

Image
Fall has passed through to winter so quickly that I can't believe it.  It flew by in a flourish of binge-watching House M.D. on Netflix and taking out dozens of books from the library.  Currently I'm immersed in the culture of Regency-Era England in my latest term paper and reminiscing on this semester's art show that I put on along with the rest of my crew at The Fridge Door Gallery.  I actually had a different top planned for the entire night and of course in the haze of hanging and fighting off the cat that lives in the gallery I managed to forget it at home.  Monsieur le chat was very mad that we were more focused on the art and not on playing with him.  Here's some fantastic photos taken at the event.

Mondaze

I'm still not used to the sun going down so early in the day now.  One of the worst things is when I go into the library at 3PM and walk out at 5PM to a jet black campus.  I feel like the world is going to sleep too early!  I've always been a morning person and it makes it all the more difficult to energize myself with all this darkness.  Oh well! Winter is for layering layering layering and that's what's going on in this outfit.  I'm wearing one of my favorite pieces this fall c/o Drew and an old gifted scarf.  These River Island jeans are also my new best friends!  I've been wearing them so much lately before it gets too cold and my knees fall off. Birthday babe

Yesterday was a very special day for me - my birthday!  Goodbye teenage years.  I kicked off my 20s with lots of good coffee, good grades and amazing food!  Isaac and I went to Le Serpent, a fantastic restaurant downtown in Old Port.  The food was to die for and the ambiance was so cool!  We both got a bit gussied up too which I always love. H&M // Balmain Collection Favorites

Image
Tomorrow is the special day that many of us have been waiting for - the opening of the H&M Balmain collection!  I'm also excited for November 5th because it's my birthday (more on that later.)  Unfortunately since it is my birthday I'm going to miss the major morning rush when the stores open but I will be hauling my tired body over there on Friday morning in the hopes that my store will not already be incredibly depleted.  For all you lucky americans out there - the collection goes online at 8 a.m. EST. In anticipation I've been staring at the H&M website trying to decide my personal favorites from the collection.  Not to mention that the website itself looks super cool and I'm mildly geeking out. The collection as a whole gives off this aura of mystery - kind of makes me think of a 1980s spy movie?  The blouses definitely give off the 1980s vibe while the dark colors add that chiller aspect.  Something like what Sigourney Weaver would have worn in Ghos

Fall in the City

Oh man, it's been a while.  Third year of university is proving to be a real time consumer - which is understandable given the fact that I'm a full-time student.  Now it's time for me to actually get back to blogging because I really do so enjoy it. What are some life updates?  Been able to do some traveling this past month or so.  Spent some beyond amazing time in Rhode Island with two of my best friends, went crazy on halloween dressed as Marie Antoinette, ate a lot of dumplings.  We had the most amazing time in Rhode Island as we packed up the little white Fiat 500, drove through Vermont and New Hampshire until we reached the Ocean State.  Weekend full of cupcakes and lots of Justin Bieber playing on repeat. Shirt - American Apparel  / Pants - Zara (thrifted) / Sweater - Vintage / Shoes - Minnetonka

Weekly Inspo

Weekly bit of inspiration.  Definitely feeling some new fall things like midi skirts paired with comfy sweaters.  I move back to Montreal soon so interior design is on my mind!  Excited to go back and be in my own home.

Seventies Vibes

Top - Topshop / Leggings - Lululemon / Shoes - Aldo / Purse - Kate Spade ( similar ) When I was in NYC a few weeks ago I stumbled upon this adorable top/dress in the petites section of Topshop.  Being only 5'2" I'm absolutely a petite person and I love how the Topshop in Soho has an entire section dedicated to the smaller people like me.  This piece is quite short but I think it can work for many different occasions just depending on what you put underneath it.  In this case, I had this on for a day working at the gallery but I could easily wear it to a party with only tights underneath. Just another black and white piece that I'm going to be pairing with a red lip for many other occasions this coming fall.

Fashionable Feminism?

Image
Follow my blog with Bloglovin I have to say, I have mixed feelings about the release of Acne's Fall 2015 menswear collection.  If you know me in person, you probably know that I have very strong feelings about my own feminism and beliefs in women's rights and gender equality.  There's something to be said about a major label such as Acne coming out with clothing along this line, but what is the statement they're actually making? I'm all about proclaiming your own feminism, but I'm not a fan of doing it to go along with the 'fad' of feminism.  Even if Acne designers have the intention of labeling themselves as openly feminist, I'm afraid of the bearded, PBR-drinking hipsters taking this as the OK to put on clothing that says they support feminism while at the same time not supporting it in their daily lives.  Does this mean it WILL happen?  Not necessarily, but it's just something to think about. These pieces run from $220 USD to over

New York, I Love You

Image
This summer has been insane.  I've been working constantly between my three jobs and have had almost no time for fun!  Thankfully, my main job had a two week summer break where I had a chance to take a deep breath and spend some time by myself, with friends and seeing family.  One of the things I was able to do is visit New York City two times and see my great friend Haleigh.  We spent the entire day downtown and got a chance to see the new Whitney Museum down in Meatpacking.  Although I was a tad disappointed with the collection itself, the building was super impressive as was the view of downtown.   I did really enjoy the Calder circus they had on display and the minimalist exhibits, so if you go I definitely suggest keeping an eye out for those. I made the decision to wear a breezy dress from Free People which worked perfectly because of how incredibly hot it was in the city that day.  Paired with my favorite Birkenstocks (yes, they're not
