TBT // NYC

Image
Oh how I miss New York.  It's been about a month since these photos were taken on my trip to the city with two of my best friends.  I'm actually wearing my mom's hat that she let me borrow so that my ears wouldn't freeze off.  We had just popped into the second coffee shop of the day and I indulged in a home made pop-tart and my third coffee.  It was quite a wonderful day before I almost sprained my ankle running to catch my train back to Providence! Penn Station and I will never be friends.  Alas, I am not in NYC but in my own wonderful city of Montreal which surprisingly has less snow at the moment.  Tomorrow, off for brunch and shopping at the sale from Atalier B! Mushroom and Leek Risotto

Ok, this is my first divulge into food blogging.  First thing I have to say is that I have a newfound respect for people who can actually photograph food.  Second of all, I am really testing the water here with this food blogging thing.  I've been vegetarian for about six years and I really love finding new vegetarian foods to cook (and eat mostly.)  I'm also a huge food nerd.  OK, anyways - here's a great recipe that I snagged from The Minimalist Baker  (with a few little adaptations.)  I absolutely love risotto - it's one of my favorite things to cook and I promise it's really not that hard at all! Anyways, below is the recipe! Ingredients: 3 1/2 cups of vegetable broth (plus or minus 1/2 cup) Olive oil for sautéing 8 ounces of crimini mushrooms sliced 1 leek - thinly sliced and thoroughly rinsed 1/2 cup dry white wine 1 cup arborio rice 1 tbs vegan butter 1/4 cup parmesan cheese + more to taste  Parsley to garnish Instructions: Heat veg

Pre-Fall 2016 : Favorite Looks

Image
I'm really loving some of the collections coming out right now.  There's something so striking about the long lines and harsh angles coming out of Acne and Kenzo while Theory's collection shines in its soft simplicity.  I'm also completely geeking over so many outfits from the Sportmax and Ports 1961 collections.  Mind you, this is only a taste of what is currently being shown and what has been shown in the past few days.  Keep reading to catch my two cents on some of my favorite looks and collections currently out. Acne Anyone else drooling over that orange jacket? I'm thinking that perhaps Velma from Scooby Doo became a groupie. ( Almost Famous , anyone?) Also - mixed tartan yes please. Theory Completely gorgeous, as per usual.  I'm a huge fan of Theory and could literally wear anything they produce.  Simple yet gorgeous. Kenzo First of all, loving the way the models' positions interact with the clothing's lines and the lines on

Weekly Inspiration

In a perfect world, winter would look like something out of a Doctor Seuss book.  Fluffy snow blanketing the ground and beautiful blue skies.  As January takes off slowly but surely I've been fighting off the rain and wind that has blown its way through downtown Montreal.  The past few days I've been focused on finding little outlets of light around the city - whether it be colorful fruits at the winter market to picking out a new loose leaf tea at Kusmi Paris.  What better way to get out of my own reality by drumming up some inspiration? All images c/o Tumblr This grey tone that has enveloped the city started my winter semester with a whisper, not a bang.  Avoiding the rain and the gloom I've been spending a lot of time skimming the internet and binging on Netflix.  Has anyone seen Making a Murderer? I'm currently on Episode 5 - wrapped up in a cardigan and lighting some candles around my apartment.  Let me know in the comments if you like the show

You've Lost Your Muchness

It's only 39° in Bristol, Rhode Island and I'm curled up under a snowflake blanket enjoying an evening showing of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.  There's something intensely bittersweet about leaving Montreal for the holidays and traveling to see family and friends.  I've spent the last two and a half weeks in North Carolina, New York, and New England running about and enjoying the surprisingly (concerningly?) warm winter. As the Mad Hatter and crew are enjoying their tea and contemplating words that begin with the letter M, I'm contemplating the ideas of new beginnings that always arrive at the new year.  I've never been a huge fan of new year resolutions - most people don't even fulfill them! Instead of setting specific goals, I believe my goal will to be more comfortable and more creative in my life.  Hopefully this will reflect on this blog and my own personal style.  And hopefully I won't lose my head this coming semester...
